THE NDC INCREASED FUEL PRICES BY 165% IN 4 YRS 10 MONTHS. NPP HAS DONE 54% IN 4 YEARS 10 MONTHS
Fuel prices have gone up again, painfully so. Ghanaians are complaining, they have a right to. Maybe Government should remove some taxes on fuel ( and risk not meeting budget targets and thus unable to complete planned projects), or leave it as it is. Both have pros and cons.
But the NDC should never be the ones to pontificate on fuel prices and pretend they can or have handled it any better before. Far from it. The worst NPP performance is even better than their best.
From 7th January 2009 to 18th October 2013, 4 years 10 months of being in office, fuel prices increased by 165% !!! Yes, from 3.69 Cedis a gallon to 9.81 Cedis a gallon.
During this same period of time, 7th January 2017 to today 18th October 2021, under the NPP, fuel prices have increased by 54.2%, that is from 19 Cedis to 29.3 Cedis today.
How do you even compare a 165% increase to a 54% increase?
Yes, Ghanaians need the best performance possible and of course the NDC should never be the standard of comparison for an NPP Government, far from it. The NPP is known to be far better, we all know.
But when the NDC tries to capitalise when fuel prices increase and pretend to the world they could or have done better, some of us will quickly bring out the raw data and facts.
From industrialization to Cedi Exchange rate management to interest rates management to infrastructure to education to health to good governance to fuel pricing and what have you, NPP is far better and we will push NPP to do even more.
